Our Literacy Professional Learning Community (LPLC) is comprised of thirteen high school teachers, our building principal, and a professional literacy consultant. These teachers instruct a variety of content areas and represent the diversity of courses we offer at our high school. There are four English teachers, two math teachers, two social studies teachers, two science teachers, one world languages teacher, one special education teacher, and one alternative education teacher involved in our LPLC. This is amount of diversity is a huge advantage when it comes to creating meaningful staff development opportunities and getting others excited about literacy.

We have been working on integrating the use of common literacy strategies for the past two years. During this time, we have planned and carried out several staff development sessions and we have had direct instruction in the integration of literacy strategies into our classroom teaching. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had the pleasure of taking part in. Thank you to all of my fellow Literacy Team members, our amazing principal, and our literacy consultant for all of the help and support you have offered!

This resource wiki has already been used in a recent staff development activity! Once this course is over, we'll use it as a place to store all kinds of useful staff development resources and to guide staff development.
